The Amateur Astronomers Association Delhi(AAAD) is extremely proud to announce its Collaboration with The Indian Institute of Astrophysics(IIA) and Vigyan Prasar (VP) for the Transit of Venus 2012 on June 05/06 2012.

Two teams from AAAD, Vigyan Prasar & IIA are travelling to Ladakh to capture The Transit of Venus. One will be stationed at Leh and the other will travel to The Indian Astronomical Observatory at Hanle, Ladakh, becoming the world's highest stationed observers of the Transit of Venus at 14800ft above sea level.

The news get only better from here. Not only will this be the world's highest observation of the transit, There will also be a webcast on the website www.aaadelhi.org and many other websites from these heavenly sites, Being the technical collaborator AAAD will also be providing feed for the telecast of the transit for Vijyan Prasar and IIA

AAAD is further delighted to announce its partnership with Sun Earth Day and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), USA. The webcast of TOV from the site at hanle will also be seen on NASA TV (nasa.gov) along with the Webcasts from the observatory at Mauna Kea and other NASA observing sights during the transit.

For the Delhites and the people around NCR, AAAD and Nehru Planetarium will have telescopes setup in the lawns of Nehru Planetarium for people to enjoy the transit.

WEBCAST LIVE FROM LADAKH

Live from Hanle!!!, one of the worlds highest Transit of Venus recording ever, the AAAD team will be broadcasting the transit from here at an an altitude of 4,500 m (14,764 ft). Hanle is a dry place for most of the year with little or no cloud cover present to spoil the view.
